ICF Tech launches advanced construction system at Interbuild
A revolutionary construction method that dramatically reduces the time and cost of house building and offers huge advantages in energy saving, fire safety, thermal and acoustic performance will be launched at Interbuild.
ICF Tech, part of the Litchfield Group of companies, is the only complete insulating concrete form system designed specifically for the UK building industry. The supply and fit system includes all the elements required to construct ICF walls such as the floor supports and closers to seal the window and door cavities. The system is also designed to accommodate Sheerframe windows and Masterdors.
It is quick and easy to construct. Once on site a typical family house can be ready for the roof to go on inside one week.
The ICF Tech system consists of strong yet lightweight, interlocking forms made from fire retardant Expanded Polystyrene (EPS). Once the forms are constructed the structure is filled with a unique thermally efficient concrete, developed in partnership with Bardon Concrete an Aggregate Industries business, to form a high performance monolithic concrete wall. An ICF building can look like any other by adding brick slip systems, timber cladding, render or commercial cladding systems.
Graeme Howorth, director of ICF Tech Ltd said: “The Government’s targets for house building are leading house builders and developers to explore more cost effective and energy efficient ways of building. Our ICF system is around 10% more cost effective than traditional house building techniques and has excellent eco credentials in terms of thermal efficiency, use of recycled materials, low U values and the ability to reduce the ongoing CO2 emissions of the building.
